What I Wore in Rome, Italy Spring/Summer Outfits

Ah, Rome in April. The eternal city gifted us a little bit of everything—sunshine, sudden breezes, and those in-between temps that make dressing a bit of a puzzle. But with the right layering pieces and a few style staples, I was able to build a mini capsule wardrobe that worked for everything from long walks through Trastevere to spontaneous dinners near Piazza Navona.

Here’s a breakdown of the four outfits I wore and loved on this trip:

Look 1: Crisp in All White

Nothing feels more elevated Roman holiday than an all-white moment. I wore a cropped white button-up ribbed cardigan from Amazon with my go-to white linen pants from Abercrombie. This combo was breathable enough for warm afternoons yet cozy for shaded alleyways or breezy terraces. I paired it with black Zara Mary Jane flats (perfect for cobblestone navigating), my Celine Triomphe sunglasses, and a structured Celine Trapeze bag to pull it all together.

Style tip: White-on-white always feels intentional—especially when you mix textures like ribbed knits and linen.

Look 2: Soft Butter Yellow

This yellow linen dress from Mango was one of my favorite finds this season. The puffed hem gave it just the right amount of drama without being fussy. I styled it with the same black Mary Janes and added a vintage Louis Vuitton Pochette crossbody bag for a touch of nostalgia. This look felt made for sunny park strolls, and gelato runs in the piazza.

Style tip: A pop of color (like this butter yellow) photographs beautifully against Rome’s terracotta tones.

Look 3: Soft Structure with a Feminine Twist

Shop the look: Blazer| Top | Skirt

For days when the temps dipped or when I wanted a bit more coverage, I layered a belted linen blazer from Mango over a black tube top and a flowy poplin maxi skirt from Être Aimée. This look balanced structure and softness—and the belted waist gave shape without sacrificing comfort. Without the blazer, it was the perfect dinner look in Rome—easy, breezy, and just a little flirty.

Style tip: A midi or maxi skirt is a must-pack for European spring—it works for both daytime exploring and dinner al fresco.

Look 4: Casual Cool for Cloudy Days

Shop the look: Coat | Sweater | Top | Pants | Necklace | Skirt

This outfit came in handy for cooler mornings and travel days. I wore a classic beige trench coat from Mango over a white scalloped-edge top from H&M and red-and-white striped trousers. For footwear, I broke up the neutral palette with green Adidas Gazelles (a color combo I didn’t know I’d love so much!). I carried everything in my roomy Marc Jacobs Dual Tote, which fit all my essentials, camera gear, and then some.

Style tip: Trench coats are a timeless layer that can dress up even the most casual sneaker look.

Packing for Rome in April means preparing for everything. With a palette of neutrals, breathable fabrics, and a few fun color pops, these four outfits kept me comfortable and stylish through all the outfit changes the weather threw at me.
